Alt- J "Taro"  My favorite song from the past month and a half.
It really has been a hot minute since last I posted.  A lot of stuff has happened in the world, but not much in my little bubble.  Yes, bombings at the marathon (my office is 4 blocks away, btw).  Kazushi and James came to visit (Bruins vs. Penguins game that the Penguins actually won!) and I went home for Christine's wedding (it was beautiful and I am SSOOO glad I was able to go :)).

Now it's June! ... And it's pouring here.  There are tons of flood warnings, and it's a mess.  I started with two umbrellas this winter, and now I have half an umbrella.  One broke, the other is broken (but still semi-functional, so I'm still using it).  I joined the gym down the street (literally across the street from our new apt that we move into in Sept) and I am still an intern at my job.  I did get some business cards recently though, because I went to a new business meeting and I had to seem legit.  I got a slight raise, and I feel like a part of the team.  I just wish I really was part of the team.  The company hired a replacement for the guy who left, so we'll see what happens (I was told that had to happen before I could be hired on for reals, and now that it has, I'm crossing my fingers).

Movies that we have seen in the past month (for free):
The Great Gatsby
Before Midnight
The Is The End
The Heat

We spent a day at Allston Beach, which is another name for Jeff's apt complex pool.  I even got a bit of a tan!  I'm waiting for camping to completely brown up, but this is a good start.

Sharks lost to the Kings, who then lost to Chicago.  Boston is pretty excited for Stanley Cup Playoffs, and although they lost last night, it will be neat to be around if/when they win it all.

I've read 31 books so far this year!  I'm well on my way to my goal of 60 books like last year.  Maybe I should increase my goal, but two books already this year were huge.  I just finished Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman, and I'm about to tackle either Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace, or Freedom by Jonathan Franzen.  Haven't decided which one yet.

I have all these little ideas for stories in my head, and I'm trying really hard to get them down on paper so I can write a bit more like I used to.

Game of Thrones ended and people went crazy over the Red Wedding.  That's what I was reading when we went camping two years ago and no one understood why I was freaking out!!  (They didn't want to know if it meant spoilers for the TV show, so I didn't spill).  Doctor Who ended it's 7 season- I still don't like Clara all that much, and this new Doctor should be interesting.  I'm mostly excited for the 50th anniversary special when they bring back Ten and Rose.  So exciting!

The cat is still crazy; we love her, we pet her, we feed her consistently, we scoop her poo, we play with her... and she still shits on the carpet sometimes!  I guess she's angry, though I don't know why.  Maybe because she wants us to get up at 5 am and neither Sara nor I want to do that... ever.

I have both Dad's Father's Day present and Jackie's birthday card on my desk, they've been here for days.  I really need to send them out (sorry dad, it's gonna be a bit late).

And I think that might be it for now!

Please do an anti-rain dance in our honor, I want it to be the summer it should be.  Rain in June? No thank you.  I want heat and sun and sunglasses and sunscreen and swimming pools and picnics in the park!  Oh, we did one of those too.  It was fun, we stopped at Trader Joes and got cheese and crackers and snacks, we packed mimosas in water bottles and we hung out at the Public Garden for 2 hours.

Here are the pictures from the photo booth at Christine's wedding:

I did a video earlier today, and just posted it now.  It's long, which is weird as I normally don't have much to talk about.  I'm sure if you edited all the 'ums' out of it would be a lot shorter.

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone had a nice holiday.  This 3 day weekend was really nice, but next time I want to capitalize on my extra time off and go home.  It's been awhile since I've been home and I'm really starting to get homesick!

This weekend I slept a lot (what else did you expect?), I went shopping (clothes and food) and I watched movies.  I went out with a couple of friends on Friday night, so I spent some time with other people.  I was supposed to go out Saturday night as well, but with my debit card info being stolen they stopped it and I cut it up.  I have been using my credit card for everything else, however, I can't take cash out!  So I couldn't go out with Meghan to see a band downtown, since I had $2 cash to my name, and that's definitely not enough for cover, haha.

So I stayed in and watched The Hobbit.  To be honest, I thought it was boring, I kept checking the time to see when it would be over.  I used to love the cartoon, and I like the book, but this movie was just sllooowww.  And I really like Martin Freeman, so I was doubly depressed.  Today I cleaned up the apartment a bit, went to express and bought a new pair of pants and a work dress, and watched even more movies!

I start work again tomorrow, hopefully it's not weird.  I feel like coming back after more than just a weekend off is always a bit strange.  Add to that the mess I  made of an assignment I should have tried harder on from Thursday, and you've got an interesting mix.  I think I'm gonna leave early and try to get a Starbucks or something beforehand, get myself ready for the day.  I'm getting my hair cut afterward, I'm kind of excited! I hope it turns out well, I always have high hopes.... but even if it doesn't, I can deal with it! After the last fiasco, I feel I can deal with any hair related messes easily.

Mom sent me a whole box of candy, but I'm trying to be healthy so it's getting eaten very very slowly.  Like one caramel egg a day, lol.

Doctor Who and Game of Thrones both premiered this weekend, I thought Dr. Who was a bit of a disappointment, and I am still waiting for GoT.  Finally some new, good TV to look forward to.

I have finished 24 books so far this year.  When I felt bad on Thursday I bought myself a new book, but it's coming in the mail (not on my kindle) so I have to wait to read it.  Yeah that's a thing that I do, I spend money to make myself feel better.  I also bought a yoga mat to do some exercises on the wood floor, so hopefully that will make me feel loads better if I start feeling down again.  I like to do small exercises, I hate running.

We put an ad out for a new roommate!  We got a few responses, and have a couple of meetings set up to figure out who we want to live with.  I'm excited, I like living with more people (though with Meredith it was kind of awful).  They are all younger than me, but what's new.  I feel like a dinosaur here.

I had bought a dress for Christine's wedding, but I am returning it.  It didn't fit exactly right, and it was a bit different than the picture online showed it.  So I'll keep looking!  I looked for something today at Express (since everything was 40% off) but I didn't see anything I would want to wear.  I want to wear something different- not just a boring'o solid dress.

Oh gosh, whenever I sit down to write these I realize I don't have much to say! At least not that I am ok with anyone and everyone reading, haha.

It's almost April, and that thought depresses me more than it should. Time goes by so fast!!

I hope it starts getting warm out here, to be honest, I miss the sun. I miss tank tops and flip flops and sunglasses and sunscreen.

I feel like I'm always being asked about my job. Here's the thing, I like my job. I would stay there the whole time I'm in Boston if given a chance. But, I really want a permanent position, with a bigger paycheck and medical benefits. Is that a lot to ask for? I always feel a bit greedy when I think about it- but right now I'm only working part-time. I'm breaking even every month, not rebuilding the savings I spent to move out here at all. I can't spend money like I used to, which is ok, but now I feel guilty even spending $5 for breakfast in the morning. I just want a little bit more leeway. Also, I want a permanent position because I feel like the worlds oldest intern (though I know I'm not). I want to establish myself and start my career, and I feel like that keeps getting stalled. I had a phone interview with another company this week. I think it went ok, though I'm better at in person interviews. We'll see what happens. It's for a PR coordinator, full time perm position near Southie. I don't know what the pay is though, that has yet to be revealed. I feel weird asking though, so I'll wait to see if they liked me to ask for more info.

I have Friday off which is neat, 3 day weekend all to myself. I was thinking of trying to come home and surprise my family for Easter, but it was too late by the time I found out, flights were crazy expensive. Sara is going to NY to meet her friends and then they are coming here on Sunday night to visit for a few days. So fri sat and sun I'm all by my lonesome. Prob pick a new TV show and marathon it on the couch. Productive.

I've been really stressed out about being healthy the last couple of days. I feel like a gross slob lately and need to change my shit up. I bought a bunch of veggies and am packing my lunches. I'm drinking tons of water and trying to exercise more. I want to do these videos I found online, but a lot of it involves jumping, and I feel bad for the people downstairs. Or maybe that's just my laziness talking. I have to figure something out. Gym here are like $60 a month, which I find insane. I hate running, I can't breathe and my knees always hurt. But I can't keep getting fatter!

Sometimes I feel so whiny when I write these. I always forget to write when I'm happy and things are awesome. My friends were here, I had a blast with them. Oh well. Maybe I'll write more often as part if my healthy new me regimen. We'll see.

Past my bedtime now, I hope everyone has a good Easter :)

030813 video

Video blog today! No music, so you can better hear my melodious voice. hahahaha.

I had time to kill and was lazy (which I explain) so instead of writing, I'm talking.  And can I just say that watching and listening to myself is really really weird.  Also, I can never get past how big my teeth are.

Featuring a cameo by Lindsay Lohan

I really need to ingest some food.

Photos I promised I would include:

I actually don't have one of the cat in her rehab center. I thought I did, weird. Sara definitely does, I might update this and add it later.

022113 ramblings

I'm giving up iced tea for lent. I am trying to practice my French more, since my Rosetta stone expires in May. I wonder if I'm making a good impression at work, if I will ever be a real employee.

I think about what to eat for lunch starting at 10 am, and today I want a taco. I want to eat it at a table, not at my desk. Today I will.

I have ideas for a story in my head, but can't seem to focus enough to connect all the dots and put it down on paper.

I haven't bought a movie since I moved (black Friday not counting). I have already read 15 books this year.

It's weird to be broke after a long time of having extra money to burn, while still saving up. I only have $1300 left of school loans to pay. I'm planning on coming home in May, July, and September. Flight for May cost $375. Flight for July will probably cost around the same. September might be more.

I'm craving jack in the box, but there aren't any here. I'd even go for Taco Bell, but still, not here. I want a killer taco. Or a chipotle in back bay. I guess it's boloco for lunch today. My boss goes to boloco all. the. time.

I have to start calling reporters and pitching them to write about what I want them to write about. I'm not good at it. I feel awkward calling people and selling them on a story.

Ended up at four burgers. Really good, but expensive. Gonna use vday cash. Supposed to snow more this weekend. More incentive to stay in by myself since Sara's going to DC. Wish I had friends here who would want to marathon game of thrones with me.

I'm addicted to this song.  I want to wear the chorus around my neck like a necklace and listen to the lilting lines over and over again.  It's a pretty cover of an 80s song that I also love, so it was pretty much a win-win when I heard it on Carrie Diaries.

So, I haven't posted anything in like 2 weeks, and a lot has happened.  Mom came to visit, we basically never left my apartment.  There was a huge blizzard, and the city shut down- but we got to play in the snow and watch a lot of wedding shows in Netflix.  The Bruins game we were supposed to go to got postponed, so now I have three tickets to a game in April, and no third person to go with.  Hm.  I could try to see if anyone wants to go, but I'm not sure which of my friends wants to spend $82.00 on a ticket.  We'll see.  I might sell all three and get different tickets for just Sara and I.

It was also Valentine's Day, Sara and I ordered Thai and watched more Netflix.  Also, we drank champagne and ate chocolate mousse cake.  We watched a gothic bride episode of My Fair Wedding, it was pretty good.

I've been watching too many wedding shows lately.  I mean, I love them, but I keep thinking about when/if I get married what I want.  I used to want a quick, low cost, probably Vegas wedding.  But these shows make it all look so pretty, and what if my future husband wants a big wedding?  On one hand, it's a lot of money for one day- and I have a bad habit of getting super stressed out and angry at big events (like prom).  On the other hand, I would love to have a ceremony in the middle of a redwood forest, with a vintage lace gown on.  So, there's that.  I'll prob end up going the vegas route, because I can't imagine I will have a lot of money to spend, and I'll still be able to have a memorable wedding!  haha.

Tonight we went over to our friend Hannah's apartment and watched the Beyonce documentary on HBO.  It was awful.  It made me feel like she is a huge narcissist, and there was no cohesive timeline or story.  Also, I could barely hear what she was saying in some of her webcam videos.  I was unimpressed and bored.  Hannah made a bunch of little sandwiches and had cheese and wine, and we had good conversations about random stuff (bad dates! home videos! wisdom teeth!) so it was a good time.

Last night we went to a bar called Church and saw some bands.  We only got to see part of the first band's set, and one of the songs they played was a christmas carol, the other was The Saints Go Marching In.  No joke.  The second band was "Superhuman Happiness" which is a band that Ryan plays in (and the whole reason we were there last night!).  They were really good, the music was nice and dance-y and we had a good time.  After their set Ryan came and sat with us, we talked a bit (though it was really loud) and watched the third band.  I stole a poster off the wall and made Ryan sign it, that will soon go up in our apartment.  We didn't stay the whole third band's set though, because I wanted to take the T home, and it shuts down after 12:30.  Ryan walked with us back to the T stop, and he's gonna let us know next time he's in town for a show.  I'm glad we got to hang out, it was really nice to see him (especially because we pretty much only see him on Christmas).

I have Monday off, yay!  I'm going to sleep in and play video games.  I feel like I bought my playstation mostly because it plays blu rays and netflix instant.  Notsomuch because it plays video games, lol.  I have a couple, and Missy and I were working our way through Alice:  Madness Returns before I moved, so I'll probably try to work on that a bit.

And that's about it.  Until next time!
