Hi Everyone!  I wanted to write a quick note to let you know that I've updated my website (www.khelichevalier.com) and will be posting some blogs on there moving forward.  I just put one up describing a recent fancy dinner night (yes, another one!).

Not everything will be up there, just when big or fun stuff happens.  I will always put a note here when one goes up.

I'm still working on the website (my portfolio page especially) so it's still a work in progress.

Today is Josh's Birthday, Happy Birthday Joshua!

Mom has been hounding me to update this, but I don't have much to add.  I've been trying to stay in more, go to the gym, drink less.

Sara and I did have a nice night out last week, I can share that!  I downloaded a new app called, "Reserve" where it serves as a concierge for specific restaurants in Boston.  I got a flyer from a networking event I went to a couple of weeks ago, so I received $25 off my first dinner.   We planned to go to the ICA's First Friday event (once a month they have a DJ and drinks and you can tour the galleries and usually there is something else going on that is themed for the month).  Sara's friend Hannah is the event coordinator for the ICA, so we try to go when we don't have plans, we get ont he list so it's free and we get a free beer tasting.  They are pretty fun, and a good way to have a chill night.

Normally we go right after work, but last month Hannah let us know we should arrive later, as more people are usually around and it makes the dancing/DJ a bit more fun.  So for this month we decided to stop and eat dinner before heading over to the museum.

I had just downloaded the app so I figured we might as well take full advantage of it.  Nebo is an Italian restaurant nearish the Seaport (where the ICA is).  I've been wanting to go for awhile, but it's always been a bit pricey.  Since we had $25 off, we thought it was a good time to try it out.

We each got a drink, I got a moscow mule (complete with copper mug!) and Sara got a gin drink.  We ordered an appetizer- it was called Funghi Selviggi, and was DELICIOUS.  Anytime there is anything polenta on the menu we have to order it.

It's creamy mascarpone polenta with a wild mushroom ragù, sage and a fried egg.

The pic from the website

For the entrees, we go a pizza and a pasta dish.  The pizza had potato, pancetta, gorgonzola, rosemary and mozzarella.

The pasta was squid ink pasta, with scallops in a light mascarpone sauce.

Both were to die for.  The sauce in the pasta was so good, we were dipping the crust of our pizza in it after it was finished.  Two people came to try and take the bowl away, but stopped when they noticed Sara still using it.

Because we used the app, the manager came over and introduced herself.  She gave us her card and let us know we could call her anytime we wanted to come by and she would take care of us.

We headed over to the museum, listened to old hip hop songs downstairs, a blues band on the second floor, and looked at weird art on the fourth floor.

We then headed home, watched some TV and went to bed!

This weekend was pretty chill as well, I did all my laundry and went to the gym.  I made some Vegan potato soup and cleaned my room.  Pretty basic.

Oh, last week at Dodgeball I made a catch and then I threw someone out!  It doesn't happen often so, it was pretty nice.

Tonight we are going to see a screening of "Cinderella" and Im going to look for a pair of boots to wear when its not cold enough for snow boots, but not warm enough for flats.

Here are some pics:

I know I said I would post on Sunday, but obviously that didn't happen, haha.

So this week.

Saturday it snowed, and Sara and spent all day making poodle skirts and watching The Wire.

Sunday was bar league, for which we wore said poodle skirts (see pics, they came out really well!).   We also sang Karaoke.  There were four categories:  Movie Song, 80s/90s song, Rap/Hip Hop, and Team Sing Along.

We had brunch beforehand to help prepare ourselves.  Two big girl mimosas later, I was in a good place to start singing in front of people.

Song Selections:  we did Grease, You're the One That I Want as our movie song (to go with the 50s dress theme), Barbie Girl for 80s/90s, Milkshake for our Hip Hop sing, and I Believe In a Thing Called Love as our Team Sing Along.

Of course, we went all out.  Everyone dressed in 50s theme, so we got extra points there.  We brought Shake Shack cups to be props during milkshake, and Sara put on the Morticia wig, a sweat band and took off the skirt to rock out for I Believe in a Thing Called Love.  I may have also busted out an air guitar.

So we won, obviously.  It was a fun night.

Monday was the start of the storm, but as it didn't start until later in the day I went to work as normal. It took me 2 hours to get home.  I left at 4:45, walked to the T and jumped on the red line like any other day.  I didn't have to wait long for a train to show up so I thought I would miss the mess.  I was wrong.  I spent an hour on that train.  In that hour, we only went two stops.  We spent a good chunk of the time stopped in the middle of the bridge that connects Boston to Cambridge.  We couldn't get out, and we were stuffed in there, all complaining.

Of course as soon as we hit Kendall I jumped off.  I didn't want to have to go through the 3 other stops in that train, who knows how long I would have had to wait.  A lot of other people also had the same idea, so I had to wait 20 minutes for an Uber.  $20 and 15 minutes later I was home.  Sara and I went to the store and tried to grab some supplies for the storm.  The store was PACKED.  Also, most of the food was gone.  We wanted to make chili- but there was no meat.  So we settled on Mac N Cheese, dip, and grilled cheese.  Also, Sara slipped and fell in slow motion in the snow.

Tuesday was the storm!  I had to work from home, so I got up at 9 am, and sat my butt down on the couch, wrapped in a blanket.  I put in some Buffy episodes and checked my emails.  Sara joined me a little bit later, and studied for the GRE. When Teresa came out to join us, we switched from Buffy to X Files and that was our storm show. We made grilled cheese for lunch and the cat tried to keep Sara from studying.   I think I was pretty productive for a day working from home!  I think having the freedom to snack and have something on in the background really helped me focus, which I know sounds weird.

Wednesday unfortunately we had to go into work.  It took an hour, as the T was operating on a slower schedule and there were delays due to "weather related incidents."  I left 15minutes earlier than normal, and got in 15 minutes late.  Only 4 people in my office showed up, everyone else worked from home again (I was hoping Bill would send an email letting us know we could work from home, but he didn't so I went in).  I didn't have issues getting home.

Thursday was a MESS.  I left at my regular time, thinking that yesterday would be the worst of it, and there wouldn't be any problems.  Boy was I wrong.  I took the escalator down the 60 floors and as soon as I could see the bottom I knew I was gonna be late.  There were so many people on the platform waiting for a train, they were backed up to the bottom the escalators.  Yikes.  I won't drag you through how I had to wait over an hour until I finally fit in a train, but I basically walked into work at 10 am, an hour late.  The day went by pretty quickly, it's the end of the month so I have a lot of monthly reports and research to do.  After work, Megan and I went downstairs for dinner.  There is an Irish Pub, M.J. O'Connor's in our building and Megan had a giftcard to spend.  She got Guinness Beef Stew and a Guinness, and I got Pumpkin & Pecan Ravioli with an Angry Orchard.  My dinner was delicious.  It had cranberries and baked apples in a cream sauce and was both savory and sweet in the best way.  It also came with garlic cheese bread, so I was a happy camper.  I ate it all, and used my bread to soak up the sauce.

I had scored screening tickets to go see Kingsman, so we headed over to the theater after finishing our meal.  We got there 15 minutes ahead of time, found seats in the middle in the front, and watched a ridiculous but awesome movie.  Seriously, only about 20 minutes in I knew I wanted to buy it when its out.  It was hilarious.  I originally wanted to see it because it had Colin Firth, but it was way better than I expected it to be. There are some pretty violent scenes, but it works.

This morning was business as usual, no problems with the T and everyone came into the office.  I had some free time, so I thought I would post my last January entry!

This weekend should be pretty tame.  I don't have any plans on Saturday, and Sunday is the Harvard Business School conference.  I've helped put the media sponsors and everything together for the the past three years, but this is the first time I will actually attend.  It's also Superbowl Sunday though, so while I am at the conference everyone else will be going to parties.  I'll be home probably by myself when the actual game is on.  Maybe I will try to make some cool apps or something like Dad used to.  Eh, probably just end up with dip.  And beer.

012315

I know I'm way behind.  I'll probably post another on Monday, to catch you up on this week.  This will just cover last weekend.

Here we go!  A short post to fill in for this week.

Last week was pretty tame, filled with work, work and more work!  I went to the gym a few times and got my fitbit- finally!  I took a boxing class, that was awesome.  It was full for the regular sessions (I was in a one-off) but I think I will want to sign up next time they are open.  (They go for 8 weeks at a time).

Friday night Sara and I met up with some friends and played Trampoline Dodgeball in Everett.  It was fun, but Friday nights are probably a bad time to go, as it was filled with teenage boys.  We had to take turns playing, which was kind of a bummer.  Near the end of the hour some of us went to the free jump area and just jumped up and down, passing a ball to each other and doing tricks.

We went to a really dive-y bar afterward, where we played darts, drank beers and picked songs for the jukebox.  They had a TouchTunes machine, which is a jukebox that you can control with your phone. You buy credits and use those to play a song.  Normally there is a queue of songs, and as you select them, they go to the end of the list.  You can also pay an extra credit to have your song play next.  We were having a good time until some regulars came in and messed it all up.  They started playing all their chosen songs next (so our songs kept getting pushed back) and then when one of Sara's songs came on, they had the bartender skip it!  The bartender is the only person who can skip a song, with a remote that comes with the jukebox.  I don't know why they couldn't just wait 4 minutes to keep playing their crap country, but they made a fuss and made the bartender change it.  Sara was annoyed, so she queued up the same song again, to play next.  And when it came on again, they had it skipped again.  So Sara had put money in to play the song twice, and it was skipped twice.

So then we were pissed.  We left shortly after, just as one of the songs I had picked an hour before was coming on (since it kept getting bumped).

Saturday was the kickball end of season/bar league mid season party at Hong Kong.  That was a good time, there were appetizers and free PBR for most of the night.  I knew a ton of people (for once) and we went up to the third floor to dance for a bit.

Sunday was bar league, this week's game was Family Feud.  We also got extra points for dressing up as a Family or Team.  We picked The Addam's Family, I was Morticia.  Pick of us below.  I really can't hold a straight face, especially when being yelled at to.  The wig was super annoying.   We won two rounds of Family Feud and the Fast Money Round.  We also got extra points for being the most awesomely dressed team, so now we are tied for first overall!  This week is Competitive Karaoke, so that should be interesting.

011115

This week was pretty good, for the first full week back at work since the holidays.  I feel like I always have os much to do, I'm really excited for the intern to start tomorrow.  Once he's acclimated I can hand off a lot of the time-consuming research that I am given since I am lowest man on the totem pole.  I hope that will free up some time for me to be given more creative and strategic assignments. Not that I don't like what I currently do; I just want to do more.

I went to the gym three times this week, yay!  I ran some errands and created my meal plan for the week (though creating it is never my problem, it's always following it that's the trouble).

My big to-do for this week is laundry.  If I showed anyone a picture of the laundry pile I have in my room they would exclaim, "Oh God!"  It really is a monster, I don't think I have EVER had this much laundry before.  I have to remember to get some quarters.

Bar league this week was trivia.  We got 2 out of 3 wins (still trailing behind Gin & Juice who got all 3 wins), but it's a lot better than I thought we would do for only having three people! We didn't stay for Twister as I wanted to go home to watch the Golden Globes and Sara was hungry.

Also this week Sarah taught us how to play Pit.  It was fun, I can see my friends and family really liking it.  I also learned that my friend Julia is moving to Portland, Maine next month.

Missy, Jessica, Manny and I bought our tickets for Coachella!  We weren't sure we were going until we had our weekly Google Hangout last week and we decided to try for tickets.  I'm excited, it's gonna be awesome.  I want to take some extra time off around that weekend so I can visit home for a few days.  I also REALLY want to go to Disneyland.  I haven't been in years, and that is not ok.

I saw Imitation Game this week, I enjoyed the film.  I wasn't super familiar with Alan Turing beforehand, and after watching the movie I think it sad that a lot of people don't know who he was.  I want to read the book that the movie is based on now.  I'm also a huge Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley fan, so that was a big plus.  I am sad that it didn't win any Golden Globes.

Right now I'm listening to the audiobook of "Big Little Lies" on my T ride, and I have "The Fiery Cross" (Outlander #5) on my kindle.  Once I finish those two, I'll prob bust out "The Revolutions" that Aunt Debbie got me for Christmas.  After that I will go back and grab some new books.  All three are pretty long, so it might be a while.

I went to Sephora to spend my giftcard and get a new blush (they were out of the one I wanted so I went with something new, jury is still out on it) and while I was there they did some weird matching thing to help me find my perfect foundation shade.  There was a machine that they used to take pictures of my skin, and then assigned me a color shade.  The foundations that they recommended are all light/fair colors!  What happened, I used to be tan!  I was mediums and goldens, now I am alabaster and light.  So I thought that was weird.

What else happened this week?   I don't know.  I woke up, survived, went to sleep.  Next week will be more of the same.

010215

It's been almost 6 months since I last posted.  Wow, I didn't think it had been that long.

So 2014 is over, and I say Good Riddance.  As a whole, the year kind of was blah for me.  I had some fun times (Hawaii, Coachella, Camping), was in a happy relationship and was busier than ever at work.  But then October happened.  I found out that Buddy died (RIP buddyboo), and was dumped out of the blue in a bar right before the Giants World Series Game 7 started.

Those two horrible things right at the end of year really sealed it up as a crappy year.  Maybe if they had occurred in the beginning I would be over them by now and have 2014 as a pretty good year.  But, as of right now, I can't say it was anything better than 'meh' and that's me being optimistic about it.

2015 will be better.  It has to be.

This year I am going to focus on trying to be more healthy, more active, and more conscious of the things I eat and do. I want to get a fitness tracking device (maybe a fitbit or a basis peak) and I want to write more.  I want to go back to the book I wrote for NaNoWriMo and finish it.  I was so overwhelmed when the month was over, I haven't touched it since.  But now I can go back through, edit and change stuff (some paragraphs were just fluff to hit my word counts) and write the ending.  It might not be total shit (but it most likely is).

I'm also kind of detaching from Facebook.  I deleted the app from my phone, and now only go on when I am at my computer.  Even then, I don't actively post anything anymore.  I found myself on it wayyyy too much, and I have better things to do than constantly check for updates.

I'd like to say that I will post more blogs here, but I know myself.  I will try!  I don't have much going on for 2015 yet, so not much I can post about.  We'll see.  My tumblr is my go to for being emo and posting random pictures/quotes/updates (kind of depressing as of late because of recent heartbreak).

I want to try and become a better me.

I moved my room around, and am trying to get more organized.  A clean house is a happy house, or something like that, right?  I read an article earlier today on fitness trackers and at the end the author talks about how for millennials, it seems to be that we equate happiness with simplicity.  Having all these gadgets that can track data and help streamline your life is supposedly going to make people happier.  Obviously I am into this idea, as I am trying to simplify my life, but I don't know if it will work.  Maybe I can use the blog to help figure it out.

I normally post on my blog the books I read in the past year, but I started tracking them differently last year.  Instead of keeping a list on my phone I used GoodReads, so you can see my book list here:

Books Kheli Read in 2014!

My goal of 75 books was a bit ambitious, though I hit 70 which is pretty close!  I read a bunch of crappy short paranormal books, and a few crazy long books when I started reading the Outlander series.  I'm on book number 5 of Outlander right now, and an fully engrossed in the series.  I wish I had Starz so I could watch the TV show.

There's nothing worse than an outdated blog, is there?

When I was home recently my mom reminded me a few times that I need to update my blog.  I didn't realize it hasn't been updated since Coachella until I logged in a few days ago.

To my 5 readers, I apologize!  Things have been super busy, both at work and in life.  Summer has been pretty awesome, though New England weather continues to baffle me.  Yesterday there was a tornado.  It was so dark at 10 am, it looked like it was the middle of the night.  It poured down rain, and thunder and lightning filled the sky.  Luckily I was safe and dry in my office by then, but it was pretty crazy.  An hour later, the sun filled the sky and it was like any other summer day!

Roomates and I joined a kickball league, we play on Sundays and actually don't suck that bad!  We are called "Not in the Face" and wear purple shirts.  Our team dominates in the after game social activities at the bar (of course).

My birthday came and went, I am now 28 years old.  Roommates and boy went out to dinner, it was nice.  I got a free dress from Rent The Runway for my birthday, it was pretty.

I'm trying to motivate myself to go through the stuff in my room and purge a lot of stuff before I move.  It's hard, because I'm pretty much a packrat.  I have T shirts I haven't worn in years, but that I don't wan to get rid of.  Unfortunately, I think the time has come to let go of all my Buffy/Dr.Who/BSG T shirts.  I no longer dress like Sheldon, and need more room for my adult clothes.  Same with my heels, I need to donate those as well seeing as they are impractical in Boston (and I hate wearing them most of the time anyway).

Music today is Jenny Lewis, from her new album The Voyager which came out today.

042114

Day one:

Woke up early, packed the car and headed out. 2.5 hours on the road (dance parties, new boys and arguments about the best dessert were our enertainment) and we arrive at our campsite. Tent set up was easy (3 different dudes came up to see if they could help us, but we brushed them aside and got it done in 15 by ourselves!) and we chilled for awhile before heading out to the concert around 1.

Shuttle was packed and it was a weird walk to finally get in, but we got our merch, our over 21 wristbands, and our locker all in time to see MS MR. I've never heard of them, but Missy and Jessica had. Love female fronted bands so I'm gonna have to look them up.

Best set? Haim, followed by Girl Talk

Bastille was packed to the gills, so we couldn't see and could barely hear.

Grouplove was fun, but I only know like 3 songs so they weren't a stand out.

Someone dropped trash on me, and someone kicked me, both when I was sitting on the ground.

I wore my floppy hat, but am skipping it tomorrow. I need to get some sort of tan while I'm here!

Also, we spotted a celebrity. Well, kind of a celebrity, he's not as famous as he used to be. Joshua Jackson, aka Pacey Witter, was at Broken Bells and we saw him.

Day two:

Woke up early, waited in line for the shower, then got ready in the car. Though Jessica had gotten up earlier, both her and missy were sleeping when I was up and at em. I went to charge my phone and texted a few people trying to start a convo soo shouldn't be bored. Eventually Jessica and missy got up, we lounged by the tent for a long time, drinking mimosas and eating snacks. When it got hot we tried to hide in the shade of the tent, but even with all the screens open we couldn't feel the breeze. So we laid miserable in the tent for like an hour, kind of dozing.

We finally got the bright idea to go to the pool (which was the best decision of the day). Pool party was awesome, tomorrow we plan to go a lot earlier.

We finally went back, got ready and headed out to see Cage the Elephant at 3.  Tons of bands today, we saw someone dresses up as Elmo, and we saw Joshua Jackson again (this time he was with Diane Kruger, so that's our second celebrity spotting!).

Definitely more people here today.

Muse was amazeballs (as always) and Queens of the Stone Age were pretty good. We listened to Pharrell, but didn't get close enough to really see him. Had to skip Skrillex in order to see Muse, but I'm ok with that. City and Colour were very simple but the music was great.

I got kicked and stepped on, but no trash thrown on me today! So that's a plus. Got back to the campsite at 1 am and crashed.

Day 3:

Woke up at 8 am, it's hot as hell in the tent. It's already 81 degrees outside.

Jessica and I made mimosas, charged our phones, and went to breakfast at the office/pool/rec area. $5 for eggs, hash browns, and ham. We met a few people and chatted about the bands, it was nice. Missy was still asleep.

We spent most of the morning/early afternoon at the pool, it was a blast. DJ, drinks and an easy way to cool off. I didn't wear my hat or put sunscreen on my face, so now part of it is burnt. Nose and forehead, weird.

We went to the final day and straight to Frank Turner. He was good, great stage presence and fun. Also he played I a tent so we got to hang out in some shade.

Highlights of the day? Calvin Harris, definitely. It was pretty awesome, he was on the main stage and there were huge masses of people, stretching the length of the field standing to see him. As soon as he started, the whole crowd was j to it, dancing and jumping. It was surreal, no other act had a crowd as connected as he did. It was cool to be a part of, cool to watch.

Lana was good, but right after calvin and after the giddy high of jumping around, was kind of a let down. She did a great job, just not what I wanted to listen to at the moment.

We stayed for beck and arcade fire, then jumped in the shuttle and headed back to sleep. Sad it's over, but it was a blast.

This morning we woke up at 8, packed the car and left at 845. It was already starting to get blistery hot.

Drive took a bit longer as we hit traffic, but we got home at 12. Spent the rest of the day eating, cleaning, and hanging out.

Lunch at Pat and Oscars at the dirt mall (it's not called Pat and Oscars anymore though), missy and I went searching for a replacement blanket for Jessica's stepmom, we watched Encino Man and The Sandlot, took long showers, and discussed personal music festival selections.

We dropped missy off at the airport at 630, the Jessica and I went to get happy hour drinks. We ended up at The Tipsy Crow, got beers and grilled cheese and played some Connect Four (I lost a lot).

Now I'm at the airport waiting to board my plane back to Boston. Redeye means I have to go straight into work tomorrow morning, that should be interesting.

Will post pics on FB from this weekend.

040514

It's been over a month since I've posted.

In that time, I've had many a crazy night, two of my best friends came out to visit, and I've gone to a bar in a prom dress.

I wrote a blog for work, put together a puzzle mom gave me last year, and restarted watching Firefly yet again.

I still haven't decided what I'm going to do next year. Lately I've been playing both fields- looking at apts in Cambridge with the roommates while also looking for jobs back in SF.

Work is crazier than ever, I've had to work late and/or bring my laptop home almost every night the past two weeks.

Cat is still fat, fluffy, and adorable. Sara and I finished the corn hole league we were in, I think my team finished 4th (will have to verify). We're currently in Bar League again, and up to the usual mischief.

Coming up I have Coachella in two weeks, House party the week after, then Aziz in concert before April wraps up. May is Boston Calling, but that's it for now for big plans.  I need to plan my summer trip: rafting with the boys- this time mom and dad are coming too! Should be a blast.

I'm now up to 38 books I think, thanks to a horribly written series I started about witches. I can't finish it, there are like 20 books, and getting to 7 was a struggle. Lately I've been reading all these cheap (mostly free) YA supernatural books to up my count. But now that I'm ahead, I can focus on longer, well-written books (that cost more than $2).

If anyone has any suggestions, let me know.

021314

The soundtrack is back!  Today is Ellie Goulding's "Goodness Gracious" because it always gets stuck in my head when I am at work:

So far this year I've already read 16 books. I'm well on my way to my goal of 75 for the year, though I haven't yet started some of the super long books I have on my shelf (and in my Kindle).

Of course, 6 of those books were the Vampire Academy series.  Guess what it's about?

(pause for a few seconds)

Vampires! You're so smart.  It was fluff, but it was entertaining fluff.  I started them because I saw that there was a movie coming out based on the first book (and you know I'm a sucker for movies based on books).

Speaking of book to movie conversions, I also started and finished Endless Love by Scott Spencer, which was made into a movie in the 80's and now is being remade with Alex Pettyfer.  I liked the book a lot, and I'm interested in seeing how the movie will work.  Apparently the 80's version isn't very good and is different from the book in a few ways.

I also bought (but haven't started yet) Winter's Tale by Mark Helprin, which is also the basis for a movie coming out in February.  The reviews on this were a bit shaky, but it sounded fun and I have a bad habit of impulse buying Kindle books.

I haven't yet seen any of these movies though I want to see them all; VA came out last week and Endless Love and Winter's Tale both come out tomorrow.

Tomorrow is also Valentine's Day.  I will celebrate by treating it like any other day of any other month.  I think I'm gonna have mashed potatoes for lunch (if you saw my coworker's facebook post today featuring my lovely face, I have leftovers from that vase-batch to finish).

I went to Hawaii for a week!  It was nice to spend some quality time with my family, I find myself missing them more and more out here.  It was also super nice to feel the warmth of the sun for the first time in ages.  I love Boston, but I can do without the 11 degree mornings and snowstorms.

We went whale watching and snorkeling and ate a lot of food.  I have to go to the gym three times a week now just to work off my vacation food (of course I've only been once so far, I was supposed to go tonight but I got distracted).

It's 8:30 and I am exhausted.  I'll probably whip out my book and read before heading to bed.  I think that makes it official- I've turned into an old lady.

Goodnight family and friends!

Remember how I said I was doing that NaNoWriMo thing?  Well I finished!!

I hit 50k in 30 days, and I feel pretty awesome about it.

The story I'm working on isn't quite finished, but I'll keep writing and then go through and edit the whole thing.  Maybe after that I'll let someone read it.

I just wanted to share my enthusiasm, because I'm pretty excited about it :)

So, what has happened since I last posted?

We had a house party, someone stole a painting off our wall- I think I posted on here about Sara and I doing the Urban Art Bar where you go and paint the same thing and drink and its fun?  So we had both our paintings up in the hallway, and at some point in the night we noticed that one (mine) was missing.  And it has never been recovered!  We also thought someone took our bath mat, but it was just hidden.

We went to Salem this weekend, it was neat but SUPER packed.  I bought some tarot cards to play around with.  Sara and I brought stuff to change into to be in costume, but we never put them on.  It was really cold and Sara left her red contacts at the apt, so neither of us wanted to change.  We ended up at Teresa's friends apartment watching the Red Sox game.

I still have to take pics of the apt, I swear I will do that soon.  I just want to do it when it's clean, and I always forget about it.

Work is going ok.  I have this crippling fear of being fired, though I feel like I am getting results.  Today for some reason everyone is ignoring me and it's pissing me off, but other times I have good days.  I'm out of the hallway for now, back in the office I started in last year!  Don't know how long it will last, but I'm glad- I can control the heat in here!  I share with Megan which is good since we talk a lot anyway- now I can stay sitting in my chair, I just have to turn around.

I don't know how to control the heat in the house and it's bugging me.  I'm constantly cold.  The radiators go off randomly, but don't let enough heat in to make a difference.  We need to call the landlord.  We wrote a list of things to be fixed when we gave him our rent last month, and he sent a handyman to come fix some of them... but only some.  He replaced the blinds in the living room, but we asked to get screens in windows where they are missing and... they are still missing.  We can't open those windows because the cat will jump out.  She already has once!  Now it's getting colder so it's not 100% necessary, but still.  Should have been fixed when he was out the first time.

Sara, Teresa, Elise and I joined a bar games league for the winter, it should be pretty fun.  This week is cornhole, other activities include Battleship, Pictionary, Pub Trivia, etc.  I'm excited, it will give us something to do on Tuesdays until next year.

I am in the middle of Sarena's Advocare challenge.  The first 10 day cleanse part I was super disciplined and didn't cheat or anything at all- this second section I've already cheated :/  I had two beers Saturday night and Mac n Cheese (at least it wasn't Kraft though!).  I'm being good again this week, so it prob won't be too detrimental.

Sara and I saw 12 Years A Slave last week, it was good.  Sad, but really good.  It will probably get a bunch of award nominations.  This week I have passes to see About Time, the new Rachel McAdams movie.

I can't wait for Ender's Game, Catching Fire, or Thor 2- which all come out this month.

I've been thinking about starting NaNoWriMo this year.  I signed up for it last year but didn't do anything, this year I actually want to try.  Approx. 1600 words a day for 30 days= short novel.  I might be able to do it, I just have to make sure to stay motivated.

So, update.  I was gonna do another video, but haven't found the time recently.  When I'm in my room at the new place, I am either still putting stuff together or sleeping.  Also, our wifi is wonky and Comcast is coming later in the week to fix it.

Dad came to help us move, I tried to make it enjoyable, but don't think I succeeded (there was a lot against us).  We got everything in, but not without problems.  Dad had to wake up early to move the truck out of the overnight parking spot that expired at 6 am.  It was pouring rain in the morning.  The girls moving out of the apt were STILL moving out when we were moving in.  The apartment was not clean, and the cleaning ladies came after we had moved everything inside already.  The cleaning ladies threw away the condiments we had saved AND a brand new unopened bottle of champagne we bought to celebrate our first night.  Our new roommate's car was lit on on fire and totaled.  Yes, that really happened.

We got the cat shaved like a lion, she looks totally goofy and super cute at the same time.  We like our new roommates and haven't had any problems (except lack of a linen closet and no pantry space in the kitchen).

The house.... it's old, like everything else here.  The screens are ripped and missing in a lot of windows, not all the smoke alarms have batteries, and there is a nasty fruit fly problem that we can't seem to get rid of.  Half the lightbulbs were out around the apt- we have sat down and wondered alout how the girls who lived there previously could function in the dark with all the bugs.  It was really kind of gross.  We've been making it better, got new light bulbs, cleaned the floors, got curtains for the bathroom, etc.  But it still needs work.  We're making up a list to send to the landlord so as to get it all taken care of.  The smoke alarm batteries and screens for the windows high on the list.  There is laundry downstairs, but it super gross down there.  Washing is $2, not bad- but the dryer is $2 as well, and doesn't dry the clothes all the way.  You can't add only a few more quarters to make it go a few minutes longer, you have to put in a fill $2 more, making it the most expensive load of laundry I've ever had to do.  I was so excited about having laundry downstairs, but now, not so much.

I'll take pics to show everyone soon, I'm waiting until we put up some artwork on the walls and until Im done getting my room set up.  Also, we still need to buy another couch for the living room.

Onto job news.... I feel like since I've been hired on full time I have had less and less to do.  It's weird, and it makes me feel kind of useless.  It's also been the summer, and a lot of clients slow down and take vacation, but I'm hoping it ramps up soon, I want to be busy.  I want to show that hiring me was a good thing to do (I have dreams about something going wrong and them changing their mind).  I just want to do a good job, to feel successful and happy.

I finally signed up for my 401(k), but I had no idea what to do so I just kind of clicked on stuff.  I know I set it up for 5% pretax (my company matches 4% so it will be 9% total) and then I had to pick the funds and how much for each and I just randomly clicked on two and put 50% in each.  I have no idea how this stuff works.  I finally have my dental card, but never got my medical.... I'll have to check in with Bill to see where that is.  Also, I've been waiting for delivery for some jeans from American Eagle for 3 weeks.   Time to call the post office again!

I've spent so much money lately, it's ridiculous.

Jackie's wedding is on Friday!! I am so excited.  I have a feeling this trip is going to be a blast, despite its short length.  Saturday I'm going skydiving with Kourt and Dad!  It's gonna be great.  I'm super excited.  Sunday is maybe a cousin's get together (minus Sara who will be in PA).  Followed by another redeye on Sunday and going straight into work Monday morning.  Fun times.  I don't know why I keep signing up for those, they really wreak havoc on my brain.

Next week I get to come back and buy groceries!  I've been living off mac n cheese this past week, I don't want to go to the grocery store and buy a bunch of stuff that is going to go bad before I can eat it!

I know, I know, I fail at this.  But I wanted to pop in and say....

I got hired on full time at my job!  Now I will be an Account Executive at BackBay Communications and I'll finally have health insurance!

I'm super excited, I've been wanting to work full time and get benefits and not be so poor.   It will be nice to fully feel like part of the team, since I kind of always felt out of the loop before.

I stopped and got champagne on my way home from work, and Sara got tiramisu to celebrate.
 :)

Listen to my favorite band in celebration!

063013

So I wrote a whole blog post yesterday and it didn't load and didn't save :( so here's a quick version as I try to fall asleep!

This weekend Sara was in DC so I had the apartment to myself. I would like to think I was pretty productive!

Friday night I went and saw Monsters University. Saturday I wrote 1 work paper, finished season one of Elementary, Caught up on Defiance, went to the gym (cardio and strength training), watched 21 Jump street, watched some Continuum, took out the trash and cleaned the stove.

Today I wrote another work paper, finished season one of Continuum, went and saw Man of Steel, and that's it. I was planning on going to Trader Joes, but by the time I got out of the movie I just wanted to finish my paper.

I was going to go to a bar with Jeff Sat night, but he bailed around 11 so I put my Pjs on and took off my makeup. Of course, 15 minutes after I got ready for bed, he changed his mind. Too late though.

Only a few more days until I get to go home for a week, I'm pretty excited!

Lazy bones!!

Alt- J "Taro"  My favorite song from the past month and a half.
It really has been a hot minute since last I posted.  A lot of stuff has happened in the world, but not much in my little bubble.  Yes, bombings at the marathon (my office is 4 blocks away, btw).  Kazushi and James came to visit (Bruins vs. Penguins game that the Penguins actually won!) and I went home for Christine's wedding (it was beautiful and I am SSOOO glad I was able to go :)).

Now it's June! ... And it's pouring here.  There are tons of flood warnings, and it's a mess.  I started with two umbrellas this winter, and now I have half an umbrella.  One broke, the other is broken (but still semi-functional, so I'm still using it).  I joined the gym down the street (literally across the street from our new apt that we move into in Sept) and I am still an intern at my job.  I did get some business cards recently though, because I went to a new business meeting and I had to seem legit.  I got a slight raise, and I feel like a part of the team.  I just wish I really was part of the team.  The company hired a replacement for the guy who left, so we'll see what happens (I was told that had to happen before I could be hired on for reals, and now that it has, I'm crossing my fingers).

Movies that we have seen in the past month (for free):
The Great Gatsby
Before Midnight
The Is The End
The Heat

We spent a day at Allston Beach, which is another name for Jeff's apt complex pool.  I even got a bit of a tan!  I'm waiting for camping to completely brown up, but this is a good start.

Sharks lost to the Kings, who then lost to Chicago.  Boston is pretty excited for Stanley Cup Playoffs, and although they lost last night, it will be neat to be around if/when they win it all.

I've read 31 books so far this year!  I'm well on my way to my goal of 60 books like last year.  Maybe I should increase my goal, but two books already this year were huge.  I just finished Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman, and I'm about to tackle either Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace, or Freedom by Jonathan Franzen.  Haven't decided which one yet.

I have all these little ideas for stories in my head, and I'm trying really hard to get them down on paper so I can write a bit more like I used to.

Game of Thrones ended and people went crazy over the Red Wedding.  That's what I was reading when we went camping two years ago and no one understood why I was freaking out!!  (They didn't want to know if it meant spoilers for the TV show, so I didn't spill).  Doctor Who ended it's 7 season- I still don't like Clara all that much, and this new Doctor should be interesting.  I'm mostly excited for the 50th anniversary special when they bring back Ten and Rose.  So exciting!

The cat is still crazy; we love her, we pet her, we feed her consistently, we scoop her poo, we play with her... and she still shits on the carpet sometimes!  I guess she's angry, though I don't know why.  Maybe because she wants us to get up at 5 am and neither Sara nor I want to do that... ever.

I have both Dad's Father's Day present and Jackie's birthday card on my desk, they've been here for days.  I really need to send them out (sorry dad, it's gonna be a bit late).

And I think that might be it for now!

Please do an anti-rain dance in our honor, I want it to be the summer it should be.  Rain in June? No thank you.  I want heat and sun and sunglasses and sunscreen and swimming pools and picnics in the park!  Oh, we did one of those too.  It was fun, we stopped at Trader Joes and got cheese and crackers and snacks, we packed mimosas in water bottles and we hung out at the Public Garden for 2 hours.

Here are the pictures from the photo booth at Christine's wedding:

I did a video earlier today, and just posted it now.  It's long, which is weird as I normally don't have much to talk about.  I'm sure if you edited all the 'ums' out of it would be a lot shorter.

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone had a nice holiday.  This 3 day weekend was really nice, but next time I want to capitalize on my extra time off and go home.  It's been awhile since I've been home and I'm really starting to get homesick!

This weekend I slept a lot (what else did you expect?), I went shopping (clothes and food) and I watched movies.  I went out with a couple of friends on Friday night, so I spent some time with other people.  I was supposed to go out Saturday night as well, but with my debit card info being stolen they stopped it and I cut it up.  I have been using my credit card for everything else, however, I can't take cash out!  So I couldn't go out with Meghan to see a band downtown, since I had $2 cash to my name, and that's definitely not enough for cover, haha.

So I stayed in and watched The Hobbit.  To be honest, I thought it was boring, I kept checking the time to see when it would be over.  I used to love the cartoon, and I like the book, but this movie was just sllooowww.  And I really like Martin Freeman, so I was doubly depressed.  Today I cleaned up the apartment a bit, went to express and bought a new pair of pants and a work dress, and watched even more movies!

I start work again tomorrow, hopefully it's not weird.  I feel like coming back after more than just a weekend off is always a bit strange.  Add to that the mess I  made of an assignment I should have tried harder on from Thursday, and you've got an interesting mix.  I think I'm gonna leave early and try to get a Starbucks or something beforehand, get myself ready for the day.  I'm getting my hair cut afterward, I'm kind of excited! I hope it turns out well, I always have high hopes.... but even if it doesn't, I can deal with it! After the last fiasco, I feel I can deal with any hair related messes easily.

Mom sent me a whole box of candy, but I'm trying to be healthy so it's getting eaten very very slowly.  Like one caramel egg a day, lol.

Doctor Who and Game of Thrones both premiered this weekend, I thought Dr. Who was a bit of a disappointment, and I am still waiting for GoT.  Finally some new, good TV to look forward to.

I have finished 24 books so far this year.  When I felt bad on Thursday I bought myself a new book, but it's coming in the mail (not on my kindle) so I have to wait to read it.  Yeah that's a thing that I do, I spend money to make myself feel better.  I also bought a yoga mat to do some exercises on the wood floor, so hopefully that will make me feel loads better if I start feeling down again.  I like to do small exercises, I hate running.

We put an ad out for a new roommate!  We got a few responses, and have a couple of meetings set up to figure out who we want to live with.  I'm excited, I like living with more people (though with Meredith it was kind of awful).  They are all younger than me, but what's new.  I feel like a dinosaur here.

I had bought a dress for Christine's wedding, but I am returning it.  It didn't fit exactly right, and it was a bit different than the picture online showed it.  So I'll keep looking!  I looked for something today at Express (since everything was 40% off) but I didn't see anything I would want to wear.  I want to wear something different- not just a boring'o solid dress.

Oh gosh, whenever I sit down to write these I realize I don't have much to say! At least not that I am ok with anyone and everyone reading, haha.
