013013

I just noticed that my first post of the year doesn't actually post!! So it's up now, though out of order.

Also, diet peach tea is never the way to go if there's that and lemon. Lemon is the better choice, though it's strange there was no diet lemon or regular peach (which is my favorite)

Sara and I actually did something productive today! Not that we never do, but this is work-out related, and that definitely doesn't happen all that often (at least on my end of the equation).  I got up late, and was lazy for awhile, making a quesadilla, watching TV, staying in my PJs.  Then I made a playlist to clean my room to, (today's song is not on it, wrong kind of music.  I need fast pick me up stuff to clean my room, and this song is just pretty).  Anyway, I ended up on the floor doing pushups.  So then Sara suggested we go for a run.  And we actually did.  A lot of time we say we will do something and then we sit on the couch and don't do it.  But we went for a run (as well as I could run, which wasn't very far, but there was power walking involved as well) and then came back and did an ab workout!  So yay, I did my working out for January.  lol.

I finally got the time off approved for when my mom comes to visit in a couple of weeks.  I'm excited although I don't really know what to do with her while she's here.  I've been looking stuff up, but I don't know what we will end up doing.

I finally got our Bruins tickets!  I'm excited, that will be a lot of fun.

Speaking of hockey, go Sharks!!! We were able to catch the game yesterday against the Avalanche.  It was awesome, seeing Marleau get his multiple goals and make history.  It's hard to catch the games out here, so I'm glad I got to watch at least one.

We don't know what we are going to do for the Super Bowl.  I really want to go to a party, eat some dip, and watch the 49ers dominate the Ravens.  I've never been a huge football fan, but I have to rep my hometown team!  We're hoping that our friend Jeff will have something going on he can invite us to.  Otherwise we will end up at a bar, lol.

I honestly don't understand how our radiators work.  During the week I swear they are turned off, although we have the dials turned up to 8.  We freeze and wrap ourselves in lots of blankets.  Then on the weekend, they are constantly going off and it's 90 degrees in the apartment.

Also!! We got our place for next year.  Yes, I know it's January, but I guess things are crazy out here.  It's a lower apartment in a house, 4 bedrooms 2 baths.  That means we have to find roommates.  We put down first months rent and turned in our applications, but we should still have some time before we need to pay the broker fee and find roommates.  It's kind of scary, but it's exciting.  I just hope we are able to find good people.  More roommates equals less rent!  With this internship, I barely cover my expenses each month.  So it will be nice to actually be able to start saving money again.

I'm still working on the same cowl I have been crocheting all month.  I pick it up, do a couple rows, and then put it down.  I don't know why, I just don't have the motivation to finish it!  I mean, I have awhile to go, but still.  I don't know when it will be finished.

I changed my room around a bit, I nailed some crates on the wall and made makeshift shelves for stuff.  Hopefully they don't fall off and break the wall down.  But I used big screws, am not putting anything too heavy on them, and the plaster seems really strong.  It's been a week now and they're still solidly up there, so hopefully that's a good sign.

I got some new books to read on my Kindle, I'm excited.  I've read 6 so far this year- and I just recently finished Beautiful Creatures, a YA book that they made a movie for (comes out next month I think) so there are the rest of that series and I got a bunch of John Green novels and almost all of Nicholas Sparks.  So I should be set for awhile!

I really ramble when I write these don't I? I need to work on my writing.  It used to be something I was good at, but I feel like without working on it, its gotten worse and worse.  And this blog I don't try very hard to make readable and fun, I just kinda list the things I have done to update anyone who reads it.

Sara and I went and saw Hansel & Gretal Witch Hunters the other night.  I got free passes through the preview website, and was surprised to find that it was in Imax.  And 3D.  The movie wasn't that great, the special effects were awful, but it was a good night and it didn't cost anything!

Ok, time to go.  If anything exciting happens I will update again, but prob not again in January.  See you in Feb!

Today I am 26.5. Scary.

This weekend I painted! It's a copy of Roy Lichtenstein's "Thinking Of Him" and it's not perfect (I still have to finish up some small fixes) but its not too shabby.

Also this weekend Sara and I volunteered at Cradles to Crayons!! It was short but fun, we sorted through donated clothes to be put in packs for less fortunate children.

We put up some of Sara's wall art on the wall finally, so it looks a bit more homey!

Happy New Year!

I should have posted this last week, but I didn't. I've become amazingly lazy these last couple of days, since I had a 4 day weekend (Thank you boss!).  I also have immersed myself in a book series, and that never bodes well for my sleeping habits.  Anyway, since starting the first book on my way home from California last week, I have finished all 5 in the series!  I finished the last one today though, so it's the start of my "Books finished in 2013" list as opposed to being the last one on my 2012 list.  In 2012, I read 60 books!! It's a good number, though not all are crazy long or even adult oriented.  I didn't finish Anna Karenina like I wanted (still trudging through) and I already have a list of books I want to read as soon as possible.

I have high hopes for 2013.  I anticipate good times, with two of my very good friends getting married, being in Boston for Spring and Summer, and just having new adventures all around!

What's also really neat, is that it totally snowed here on Saturday.  Like, 5 inches and it's still all over the place.  Sara and I went to Whole Foods (because we were starving and had no food) and walked in the snow, flakes falling on our noses and hoods.  I took a few pictures, I will add at the end.

Today, 3 days later, it's still all over the place.  You can tell which cars haven't moved in awhile, lol.

I realized that our apartment doesn't look very homey.  It looks very bare and sad, actually.  Aunt Cathy sent Sara some Wall Art, but we haven't put it up yet.  We keep forgetting to do it when it's a good hour to do it (the neighbors would be mad if we nailed holes in the wall at 10 pm).  I'm gonna go on All Posters and maybe get some other items, to contribute.

New Years was good, we went to Sara's friend Hannah's apartment (she is who we spent Halloween with).  There were about 10 people there, food and drinks galore, and I didn't feel super awkward until the end!  It was fun, I'm glad we were invited.

My New Year's Resolutions are:

1.  Spend less money!
2.  Go running more often/try to work out every now and then/don't be a fatty.
3.  Make more friends.
4.  Do more exciting stuff!
5.  Write on the blog more consistently about exciting stuff!

And anything else I can think of along the way.  Maybe I should add spend less time in bed reading.  I probably would get a lot more done that way.

I finished Mom and Kourt's scarves right before I left, and now I am working on a simple headband (to keep my ears warm when my hair is up!).  I also have a cowl pattern that I want to tackle, I want to use one of the color yarns that Brian sent us, but I am having trouble deciding which one!  I really need to take pictures of all the stuff that  I have made, I really liked the scarves I made for mom and Kourt.  Different patterns and different yarns, but still pretty cool looking.  Most of what I make are still beginner patterns, but the one for Kourt was intermediate, so I feel like I am moving up in the world, crochet-wise.

Ok I have to unpack my suitcase from when I went home (yeah I still havent gotten around to that, I was busy with my Kindle, lol).

Pics of the snow to follow, and I'll try to update more often :)
